Idea for small entry space

27 10 2008

One of the quirks of our new house is that there is not a clearly defined entry space.

We have a welcoming front porch and door, but when you step inside you almost immediately walk into the dining room or up the stairs. This means that visitors usually throw their coats and keys on the dining table or over the banister. Moreover, we usually have guests remove their shoes when they come to visit. For pregnant friends or elderly grandparents who need to sit to remove shoes, we need a bench.

Last night, I was reading the Design*Sponge blog and I came across this idea for a refinished telephone table. It’s a bench and a table and it is small enough to fit perfectly along the wall between the door and the dining room.

We could hang a small mirror above the table, a few hooks for coats and add a basket for shoes. A little hospitality, at last…

I’ve been looking on Craigslist for telephone tables. If you see anything like this, let me know.
